The Buzz Around Big Blue.

So, the dream season is over.
We did it, we won the Super Bowl.
We have reached the top of the mountain, and it was worth the wait.
The giants played David to the Goliath of New England.
It all adds up, the only direction is down, right?
Wrong.

The talking heads at every major publication aside from Sports Illustrated have spelled doom for the Giants. With the vast improvements the Cowboys, Dolphins and Redskins made, this division is unwinnable. Everyone saw us march to the top, no one's pulling any punches. We aren't going to sneak up like we did last time.

But, here's the thing...we can. Not only can we do it, but, we will do it. For the first two weeks of last season, all the papers, all the shows, all the websites said the same thing. These Giants are a paper tiger. They fold under any pressure. They could be the worst team in the NFC East this year.

But, they won't. Why? for two reasons. 1. Our defense can keep us in any game (and the offense shouldn't worry too much about putting us ahead), and 2. The improvements made by some of our divisional rivals are the greatest hyperboles to ever be seen.

First, let's take a look at this defense. We'll start where any defense should start, with the D-line. the probables for the ends this year are Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck. These two, when on their game, represent quite possibly the most fearsome end tandem in the NFL. When Tom Brady goes to bed at night, he still checks his closet for Justin Tuck. These guys are like Shaft. One bad mothafuckin combo. The tackles look to use last year's 3 man rotation of Jay "Spear" Alford, Barry Cofield, and Fred Robbins. These guys range from efficient to outstanding. You know where they are on most snaps, and one the ones they don't, you're probably an opposing quarterback, and you need look no further than right in front of you.

Next, an even more fearsome and consistent group than the defensive line, the linebacking corps. Antionio Pierce is a leader on and off the field. As the middle linebacker and senior member of this team's defense, he will play a vital role in any playoff push this team makes. Mathias Kiwanuka didn't get much of a chance to show us his skill set, suffering fromseason ending injuries two years in a row. I feel that he can become a major force in this defense. Maybe one of the top 10 linebackers in the league. Now, we hit maybe the only grey area in the defense. The left outside linebacker spot. I haven't really read much on this spot, and regret the error.

Finally, there is the secondary. This group is a bunch of big guys who will make big plays. only two members of this group are under 6 feet tall, and they are playmakers R.W. McQuarters and Sam Madison. Aaron Ross and Kenny Philips look to be huge contributors from the get go, and veteran Sammy Knight will provide veteran leadership to a group that is just getting wet behind the ears. Either Madison or Webster will start at corner, and both are major playmakers at the position.

So, rest assured Giants faithful. There will be a playoff push this year. It will be deep. A Super Bowl is within reach. This defense will take us there. It's just up to Eli to turn the key.

Welcome back my friends

Welcome to my first ever Giants blog for the 2008 and 2009 season, after a miracle year last year in which we saw arguably the best Superbowl ever and the biggest upset ever, we've come here to write our take on the New York Football Giants, a blog from a fans perspective.

A bit about us and the name of the blog, we've named our blog after the Giants blue and the fact that the Giants were the first team ever to employ the "Gatorade dunk" in all of sports, it is now a staple in our sports society and culture.

Here is to the Giants and our success continuing in 2008 and further!
